About

The Hungarian folk tradition has inspired composers from Haydn and Schubert to the present day. Two great Hungarian composers, Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly, collected hundreds of folk tunes over several years and wove them into their own music.

The works in this programme reflect the stunning diversity and dynamism of this ancient musical culture.

Musicians include brilliant featured festival artists Abigel Kralik, Gareth Lubbe, Elmore Quartet and Artistic Director Adrian Brendel.

Programme

Bela Bartok – String Quartet No 3

Zoltan Kodaly – Serenade for Two Violins and Viola

Interval

Erno Dohnanyi – Serenade for String Trio

Bela Bartok – Romanian Folk Dances, for violin and ensemble
