Why Education matters
Music can be a turning point. For some young people, it becomes a lifelong passion. For others, it is simply the first time they feel heard, included, or confident in a room full of people.
But access to music education is uneven, and opportunities to experience live classical performances can feel distant, or “not for me”. We want to change that. Music should be something you can encounter early and enjoy immediately.
Our work is about building those first bridges: between young people and musicians, curiosity and confidence and listening and creating.
What we do in Education
We design and deliver experiences that are welcoming, practical and memorable. In our first year, our educators worked with children in six primaries and a SEND school in the Weymouth area. We brought full-school workshops followed by a series of sessions for Year 5 pupils, offering the chance to explore instruments, rhythm, listening, and hands-on creativity.
We connected this to our wider programme, so the pupils could also meet artists at our festival, see how music is made and perform together.
We work with teachers to make activity meaningful and accessible, shaping sessions around the needs of each group and creating a friendly route into further involvement, whether that’s attending events, joining projects, or simply feeling that music is part of their world.
