About

We showcase one of the world’s richest musical regions in this performance.  The Hungarian folk tradition is the basis of so much extraordinary music. Two great Hungarian composers Bartok and Kodaly collected and developed them for many years, while famous figures like Brahms and Schubert used them frequently in their work.

Musicians include brilliant featured festival artists Kit Downes, Abigel Kralik and Gareth Lubbe, and the excellent young Elmore Quartet.

Programme

Bela Bartok – String Quartet No 3

Zoltan Kodaly – Serenade for Two Violins and Viola

Interval

Hungarian folk melodies arranged by Kit Downes for organ

Bela Bartok – Romanian Folk Dances, for violin and ensemble
